November 12 - arrival of the Caloosahatchee
November 13 - arrival of the Canisteo

Caloosahatchee docks at GraythorpThe Caloosahatchee (pictured right), first of the four Ghost Fleet ships that now have permission for temporary docking on the Tees moored at the Graythorp basin ("it IS a dry dock" - Peter Stephenson) in the glare of world media attention on Wednesday, to be followed by its sister hulk the Canisteo on Thursday. They are expected to overwinter here.

Many local residents were out there to show their disgust at the way the town is being treated as a dump for US waste

On 15th November, after ineffective appeals to the US Govt to turn back the next two ships (Compass Island and Canopus) because their import was illegal, the British Govt agreed that they too would have to be berthed at Hartlepool.

On the Tees, the ships will replicate the environmental threat they posed in the years up to October to the James River in Virginia.
